Teacher and Parent Tips

Teachers and Parents...
Here are some tips on using the 1776 American Dream Website

Use the monthly Quiz form the Quiz Questions page to expand your student's knowledge of the Vision, Values, and Sacrifice that went into the Founding of America. Students can print out the quiz, fill in the answers, and hand in for assignments or extra credit.

There are three questions to each of the daily Patriot Interviews and accompanying Historical Detail (H.D.) pages.

The first question can be answered by simply reading or listening to the one-minute interview. Children as young as second or third grade have fun answering this question.

The second question is a little more difficult and can be answered by reading the one page Historical Detail summary.

The third question requires a short essay response.

*Interviews are actual words of the Patriots and the documentation source is listed at the bottom of each H.D. page.

Answers to the monthly quiz questions can be found on the password protected Quiz Answers page. Teachers or Parents ONLY may get the password by completing the simple verification questions on that page.

Playing the Patriot Interviews

When students go to the Play Messages page and click on the Patriots Name, the Historical Detail page come up. On that page they can click on [Listen] to hear the interviews in either of two different file formats.

(Windows Media) format is a streaming audio format that works best for slower Internet speeds like dial-up. It takes about 10 to 15 seconds to download before the audio interview automatically starts.

(mp3) format starts in 2 or 3 seconds on fast hookups like DSL, cable, broadband, etc. Plus it allows the interviews to be transferred to disc for playing in other applications.

*A Lutheran High School opens their Chapel time with a flag waving on the auditorium stage screen as one of the Patriot Interviews play, followed by the student body saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

*The Appleton Wisconsin Public School system use the 1776 American Dream website as a primary learning tool for their Five charter schools, and are making it part of an all school on-line learning center.
